* Zinnia elegans is a heat-loving, light-loving herbaceous annual plant. It is an upright plant, up to 90 cm high, with dark green pubescent leaves. The inflorescences are large, bright, double and semi-double. The ligulate flowers come in different colours: dark purple, pink, orange, yellow.
The plant blooms profusely until frost. If you remove faded flowers, the flowering period increases.
Low-growing varieties are most widely used for landscaping, for example, "Thumbelina", "Pulchino" and "Peter Pan".
It tolerates high air temperatures and low humidity well. It is undemanding to the soil, but with prolonged drought the plant loses its decorative effect, flowering worsens, the leaves become faded. To maintain the plant in good condition, it is necessary to provide limited but timely watering.
It is also grown in indoor culture and used for landscaping balconies. Dark purple zinnia is especially effective for decorating balconies; it creates a bright spot that can be used to create an interesting and beautiful flower arrangement.
